‘Adult stars deserve somewhere safe to share content – it’s not seedy’

EXCLUSIVE: The adult industry has boomed since various saucy platforms have taken off online, but it can be hard for stars to promote their work. Jennie Johnston has taken matters into her own hands to help other creators succeed

Porn is probably talked about now more than ever.

As saucy online platforms continue to boom, and creators are able to make saucy content from the comfort of their own homes, it's an industry that's always changing.

What remains tough is for people to get their content out there and advertise on social media and public platforms.

This is why Jennie Johnston, 38, took matters into her own hands and is trying to create a space that's safe for other saucy stars to get their content out there.

In a bid to show that not all adult content is "seedy", she's created a platform called Pinxsters as she got fed up of being "censored".

She felt it was something she had to do, as she claims some sites were stopping her from posting content as it was deemed to be "inappropriate".

The adult star, from the United States, said: "Vanilla social media platforms have helped but only to an extent – we need our own things as well as mainstream social media.

"At the moment, you have two things which are taking place.

"The content creator signs up to an adult site, but then finds no internal promotion (especially if they have not made any money from the site – the site certainly will not help).

"The individual content creator then needs to promote their work – to do this they sign up to use a social media site, but what if the social site they signed up to then shadow bans (restricts their profile from appearing to other users) or totally bans them?

"The content creator can lose all of their promotional work, which they have put hours into. Where do they go?

"It seems content creators and adult stars do not have a place they can call home, where they will be assured they will not be censored or deleted.

"The adult brands should have taken a lead in this, but instead they chose to allow the individual star to fight their own corner without any support."

Jennie also said there can be "blurred community guidelines", which means things are never 100% transparent.

She said rules can often change, which can be problematic for sexy content creators.

Jennie, who started out on OnlyFans, said Pinxsters offers an "uncensored platform for adults of legal age" (18 or 21 according to their locality laws).

If the content is legal and consensual and does not breach another's copyright then they are welcome to make use of the stories mode, and post videos and images to promote themselves without fear of being deleted or censorship.

"Pretty soon, Pinxsters.com will be offering a monetised feature for content creators and adult stars to post their monetised videos and images and more," she said.

"So, the best of both worlds – not having to leave Pinxsters to promote and find internal traffic to sell and interact with other adult models and customers on the same site.

"Safety on the platform is paramount to us as a platform.

"Our terms and conditions do not allow under the legal ages to sign up."

Jennie continued: "We have implemented various features, one of which allows us to monitor sign ups and have included electronic technology, which help parents block porn on their internet connections via their ISP and allows monitoring by parents.

"We are among the first to have the verification feature for both creators and customers. This is voluntary at the moment, but it will become mandatory soon.

"The support team, which includes myself, can be found behind active social media profiles on Pinxsters.com itself and users do not need to fill out forms, will find us to be accessible and on hand."

Jennie also said the space will be safe, and free of judgement, so people are confident their content can be looked after.

She said people can stereotype porn in certain ways, and she wants to work to show that it's not what some people think.

"The biggest misconception is that all adult content is seedy and is run by seedy establishments, and that the seedy service only cares for its own profits," she continued.

"Not all porn is seedy and there are caring brands out there.

"Promoting work should be done in a safe environment, where other adults whom have made a conscious and own choice to be there should be able to view without judgement."
